Ask yourself a question: "Am I a creditor?"
Countries eventually will not pay their debts. The consumption of today is not going to be paid with the work of tomorrow but with the saved work of today (your savings).
Analyze your savings, check what assets do they hold. Avoid public debt, there's no face to it, there are no assets to back them (unless they have oil).
